We are seeking a Scientific Writer to support the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Forest Service International Institute of Tropical Forestry (IITF) in San Juan, Puerto Rico. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop monthly briefings on relevant scientific technical findings for the research work unit
- Provide text for an accomplishment report highlighting scientific findings and capacity of IITF
- Develop science translation blogs, articles, research highlights, and communications related to hurricane recovery projects for USDA and Forest Service outlets
- Meet regularly to discuss progress and editions of the tasks
- Consolidate evidence, photos, materials of hurricane recovery projects with communications staff
- Develop bimonthly reports for the Forest Service American Relief Act 60-day Congressional Report
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
- Writing and speaking fluency in both English & Spanish
- Excellent writing skills
- Strong collaboration skills
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
- At least 5 years of experience working with public affairs knowledge
- At least 5 years of experience in science writing
- At least 5 years of experience in advertising
- At least 2 years of experience with public relations
- At least 2 years of experience with outreach campaigns
- Experience working successfully in a team environment
- Master’s degree
