Title: HR Processing & Staffing Specialist Location: Washington, DC Schedule: Full-time, onsite Monday–Friday Salary: $71,000 – $80,000 per year

We are hiring an HR Processing & Staffing Specialist to join our team and provide HR operational support to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Human Capital Management Office (HCMO) in Washington, DC.
In this role, you will help support the FTC’s day-to-day HR operations, primarily focusing on employee benefits and retirement services while also assisting with HR processing and staffing needs.

Promote and support wellness, work-life, and benefits programs
Triage employee benefits inquiries and refer complex matters to FTC Benefits Specialists
Support Open Season activities, seminars, and other workforce engagement events
Provide basic benefits guidance and assist employees with routine benefits questions
Review and process FEHB, FEGLI, TSP, and related benefits forms
Coordinate with OPM, DFAS, insurance carriers, payroll providers, and other agencies as needed
Request military service documentation and provide deposit and redeposit information using FTC calculation tools
Calculate redeposit service, FICA, and military deposits
Compile and verify employee service histories for retirement purposes
Prepare retirement packages with oversight from the Benefits Officer
Deliver benefits-related information during new-hire orientation
Maintain benefits information and records in e-Comp, FHR Navigator, FPPS, and other designated systems
HR Processing & Staffing
Code and process personnel and payroll actions in FPPS within required timeframes
Prepare pre-appointment packages and support new-hire in-processing
Extend tentative and official job offers as directed
Review personnel and payroll forms for accuracy and completeness
Request, upload, maintain, and audit eOPF and other personnel records
Convert paper personnel files to electronic records as needed
Process leave transfers for incoming and current employees
Help employees and managers navigate HR systems, processes, and procedures
Identify and correct personnel and payroll processing errors
Track commemorative awards and maintain related files and logs
Coordinate and conduct new employee orientation
HR Records & Customer Support
Maintain accurate, complete, and organized HR and benefits records
Respond promptly and professionally to employee and management inquiries
Protect sensitive personnel information and follow applicable privacy and PII requirements
Work closely with HCMO staff and escalate complex issues to the appropriate specialist
Shift between benefits and HR processing work as workload needs change
REQUIRED BACKGROUND
Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in federal HR processing or benefits
Ability to process forms, maintain records, calculate retirement service, and use FPPS and benefits systems
EDUCATION
High school diploma required

WORK HOURS
Full-time, Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week
TELEWORK
Limited telework may be available with prior approval
SECURITY
Must meet FTC background investigation, fingerprinting, and suitability requirements
Must complete required pre-employment security screening and forms
Must complete FTC Security and Privacy Awareness Training when using agency systems
