RESPONSIBILITIES
- Administer Linux servers and clients using Ubuntu, Ubuntu Server, and RedHat across bare-metal and virtual environments
- Configure and maintain LDAP and PAM authentication protocols to support user account management
- Troubleshoot system issues across desktop and virtual Linux environments to ensure uptime and performance
- Integrate Linux systems with Windows Active Directory and implement secure cross-platform access
- Enable remote desktop connectivity between Windows and Ubuntu environments for seamless user interaction
- Maintain and repair display and print drivers (e.g., X.org, X11, XFree86, etc.)
- Implement and support Samba and NFS servers to allow Linux file system access from Windows systems
- Review and update backup protocols for compliance (e.g., maintenance of Symantec backup clients, etc.)
- Monitor hardware and system performance by applying diagnostics tools for resource tracking and optimization
- Support secure access and connectivity across computing systems in alignment with organizational IT standards
TECHNICAL STACK
- Operating Systems: Ubuntu, Ubuntu Server, RedHat
- Authentication: LDAP, PAM, Active Directory
- File Sharing: Samba, NFS
- Remote Access: Remote Desktop access between Windows and Ubuntu systems
- Display/Print Drivers: X.org, X11, XFree86
- Backup Tools: Symantec Backup Client
- Diagnostics: System diagnostics tools, performance monitoring
- Deployment Environments: Bare-metal and virtualized systems
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Knowledgeable in administering Ubuntu and RedHat Linux systems
- Knowledgeable in integrating Linux systems with Windows Active Directory using LDAP, PAM, and Samba
- Skilled in troubleshooting hardware, drivers, backups, and cross-platform connectivity
- Excellent technical documentation and communication skills
BACKGROUND
- Experienced in managing system performance, diagnostics, and remote desktop access
- RedHat and Ubuntu Linux system administration experience required
- Windows-Linux integration experience required
- Virtualization, backups (Symantec), and hardware diagnostics experience required
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
