We are seeking an experienced Civil Litigation Paralegal to support the Civil Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Northern District of Georgia (USAO NDGA) in Atlanta, GA. RESPONSIBILITIES
Litigation Support
- Work directly with Assistant United States Attorneys on active civil matters
- Gather, prepare, analyze, and summarize case materials for interviews, depositions, negotiations, and litigation
- Assist with drafting briefs, memoranda, pleadings, subpoenas, discovery materials, and routine legal correspondence
- Review documents for facts and information related to substantive case issues
- Perform basic legal research using available legal research tools
- Verify legal citations and statutory references for accuracy and consistency
- Prepare tables of contents, tables of authorities, indices, and other components of legal filings
- Maintain attorney calendars and track filing deadlines, depositions, court dates, and other case milestones
- Receive and log incoming documents and electronically stored information
- Confirm that incoming files are accessible and provided in the proper format
- Coordinate with producing parties to resolve document-access or formatting issues
- Prepare documents and electronically stored information for upload to e-discovery platforms
- Upload, organize, tag, code, and review documents within litigation-support systems
- Prepare discovery requests and responses, including interrogatories and document-production materials
- Organize large document productions and maintain detailed inventories
- Track incoming and outgoing discovery materials
- Prepare documents for review and production
- Establish, organize, and maintain electronic and physical case files
- Index, track, and control exhibits, transcripts, pleadings, discovery materials, and supporting records
- Maintain accurate inventories of case documents and litigation materials
- Prepare deposition summaries, case timelines, and other attorney work products
- Protect confidential information, personally identifiable information, and sensitive case materials
- Follow DOJ requirements for privacy, cybersecurity, confidentiality, and information handling
- Maintain files so information can be located and retrieved efficiently
- Assemble deposition exhibits, questions, reference materials, and supporting documents
- Prepare trial notebooks, witness lists, exhibit lists, jury instructions, and courtroom materials
- Upload and organize exhibits in Trial Director or similar trial-presentation applications
- Prepare charts, photographs, graphics, and other visual materials for courtroom use
- Assist with the organization and presentation of exhibits during depositions and trials
- Provide automated litigation support during trial preparation and courtroom presentations
- Operate scanners, graphics equipment, and other litigation-support technology as needed
- Prepare and organize audio, video, photographic, and documentary evidence
- Produce legal documents, reports, correspondence, charts, tables, and presentations
- Combine information from word-processing, spreadsheet, database, graphics, and publishing applications
- Review work products for formatting, spelling, punctuation, grammar, and accuracy
- Draft routine correspondence requiring knowledge of legal procedures and terminology
- Prepare transmittal letters, notices, extension requests, and case-status communications
- Perform related paralegal and litigation-support duties supporting the Civil Division
REQUIRED BACKGROUND
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Proficiency in automated litigation support software applications
- Experience and expertise performing the services required for the position
- Valid Driver’s License
- Residence within the general commuting radius of the USAO office
EDUCATION
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Undergraduate degree preferred
